چکیده
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) and related Curcuma species have been used traditionally in India, China, Hawaii, other cultures for millennia. Today they are around the world spice, medicine, dye, religious purposes. Recent biomedical studies corroborated long-known traditional medicinal values of turmeric its constituent curcuminoid compounds, which anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticarcinogenic properties. As part statewide research extension efforts to support an expanding industry, we examined yield 14 accessions across different climatic zones Hawaii observe describe Genotype × Environmental influences. Fresh differed significantly among genotypes. The overall yields observed this work ranged 11.3–57.22 t ha?1 generally agree with those literature. Data from sites suggest that fertility water management able mitigate moderate stress imposed by climate change within a certain range, but suboptimal temperatures associated high elevation tropics (>1000 m) important driver lower yields. This suggests yielding varieties may possess wide adaptability perform well diverse environments. However, site-specific evaluations will still be necessary, particularly environments outside turmeric’s environmental optima presence pest pressure.

BACKGROUND Curcuma longa (turmeric) is commonly used as spice and also used to treat fever, cough and febrile convulsions in Nigeria. This study determined the chemical composition of the essential oil of C. longa and evaluated its neuropharmacological activity in mice. METHODS Essential oil of C. longa (EOCL) fresh rhizome was obtained by hydrodistillation and its chemical composition determ...
متن کاملNovel polymorphic microsatellite markers from turmeric, Curcuma longa L. (Zingiberaceae)
Twenty one polymorphic microsatellite loci were isolated and characterized from turmeric (Curcuma longa L.). These markers were screened across thirty accessions. The number of alleles observed for each locus ranged from two to eight with an average of 4.7 alleles per locus. The discrimination power of these markers ranged from 0.25 to 0.67 (average 0.6). The simple sequence repeat (SSR) marker...

Turmeric is used as a condiment and also as a herbal medicine in different kinds of illness. It is used by tribes as an antifertility and aborcifacient agent for a long period in different parts of India. Because of scarcity of research data regarding the effectiveness and mode of action of curcumin, the active principle present in turmeric, we undertake this research work to evaluate its antif...
